Metro’s 50th Anniversary

Celebration

Thank You for Celebrating With Us!

50th anniversary years

Thank you so very much to everyone who participated in our 50th Anniversary Celebration weekend – we had a blast!  We love seeing old AND new faces while celebrating the people who’ve made it possible to be here – Our Members.

Metro’s roots go back to 1973 when two local Villages decided to charter a credit union so their employees would have a safe, reliable place to bank and obtain loans.

While our 50th celebrations have ended, our appreciation for our members and support for our community goes on!

We’d also like to thank the small businesses and affiliates who helped us make our event a success!

A little more of METRO’s history:

The credit union, then known as Arlington Heights Governmental Employee Federal Credit Union, was initially organized by municipal employees of Arlington Heights and Mount Prospect in 1973.  (Our first “location” being in the basement of the OLD Village building.)  We were able to expand to other Sponsoring Employer Groups and in 1985 officially change our name to METRO Federal Credit Union.

Fast forward to the spring of 2019, we received our community charter designation from the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).  Now we’re able to enrich the financial lives of people in our community and their direct family members!

Cheers to 50!
